Merry Christmas dear friends and family. We hope your holidays are delightful, full of love, laughter, children, hope, peace, love and especially Jesus. He is the one who is the center and the only real reason for Christmas.
Summer months were full of family, trips, canoeing, Idaho, and any other adventures we could come up with. You can scroll back through the posts from the past year to see some of these trips.
Pete is still the principal at McNeil Canyon Elementary School. He continues to serve in elder-ship at Christian Community Church. Pete is longing for snow so he can ride his re-built snow-machine. He is down to only one old Subaru to keep running. While waiting for snow, Pete spends Saturdays fishing for halibut and winter king salmon.
Lenore finished her Master of Arts in Teaching (M.A.T.) in May from the University of Alaska Southeast. She is still teaching at McNeil Canyon Elementary School. She teaches P.E., Music, and 2nd grade and is so grateful to have a job she absolutely loves. She especially likes the boss ;) Lenore is on her 6th year of teaching high school Sunday School, and still sings and plays bass and piano on the worship team. Lenore performed in Les Mis this fall (pictures below) with Claire. Disciplining 3 young women and being mom and wife keep her busy. She is looking forward to starting up her snow-machine and taking to the ski trails.
Karl is finishing up his college career at the University of Alaska Fairbanks in December. He will graduate with a degree in Mechanical Engineering and a minor in Math. He is already active duty in the Navy and will head to OCS (Officer Candidate School) in January. The next few years will be spent in multiple training facilities as he prepares to serve on Nuclear Powered Submarines. We are very excited for his future.
Kirsten is a Junior at Point Loma Nazarene University (Pete and Lenore's alma mater). She has settled on a degree in Music Education and has been enjoying learning percussion, strings, piano and other instruments. She sings in a jazz vocal ensemble, a choir, occasional special performances, but is happiest when singing with the jazz band. She is the vocalist and travels with the band. She has performances nearly every weekend. She is also teaching a children's choir in LaJolla on Sundays. She worked very hard during the summer working two different jobs to try to help pay for her education.
Claire is a Junior in high school here in Homer. She also participated in Les Mis. She recently performed in All-State choir, sings regularly at church on the worship team, and helps lead the music for the high school youth group. She is still Nordic skiing on the high school team and plans to play soccer again in the Spring. She has a 4.0 and is an excellent student, recently being inducted into the National Honor Society. She is a great model of maturity and Christ-likeness to her friends and family.
We are so grateful that all our children love Jesus, have a personal relationship with Him and continue to be close to us as well.
All of us here in Homer (and Fairbanks and San Diego) wish you a time of reflecting on Jesus Christ and His redeeming grace as He came to earth as a baby to eventually die on the cross for our sins.
